What will you see?

Traffic information from many aircraft classes.

SafeSky enables pilots to view the positions of fellow aviators.

SafeSky collects and displays traffic data from 30+ different protocols and sources, including ADS-B, FLARM, OGN, and partially Mode S. As such, using SafeSky can give you at least "30 times more" traffic information, including traffic such as paramotor, paragliders, trikes, ultra-light, general aviation and some drone traffic. Of course, if other pilots aren’t using any detection device, SafeSky, like any other system, will not be able to see them. It’s like driving a car: if you do not turn on your headlights at night you cannot be seen … or too late.

This is the traffic you will see with SafeSky:

1. Radio protocols:

  • ADS-B

  • ADS-L
  • Asterix

  • Fanet

  • Flarm

  • Fly master

  • Flying Neurons

  • InReach

  • Microtrack

  • Mode S

  • Navigate

  • OGN tracker

  • Pilot Aware

  • SafeSky

  • Spider

  • Spot

  • XC-Guide

2. SafeSky App: More than 75 000 pilots in Europe, on a steady rise

3. Additional integrated sources:

  • eConspicuity devices: SkyEcho, PowerFLARM, PilotAware, and any GDL90 devices: pilots flying with a compatible device and SafeSky are sharing their collected traffic with SafeSky, adding up “flying stations” to the mix
  • Navigation software: EasyVFR and Air Navigation Pro software is natively integrated with SafeSky and provides thousands of additional pilots
  • Paramotor and paraglider portable hardware: SkyTraxxSyride and FlyMaster are natively integrated with SafeSky, providing a large picture of free flight traffic
  • Paramotor and paraglider software: GaggleeVarioXCTracktheFlightVarioWingIt, AirSports.no are natively integrated with SafeSky

4. Drone sources: Thanks to data exchange partnerships with drone operators such as the police and air rescue services, you'll be able to see live positions or filed flight plans.

While SafeSky provides significantly more flight traffic information than a single system or no system at all, it will not show everything. Visibility can be affected by factors like pilots not using a detection device, limited ground station coverage, poor internet, or mobile GPS quality. SafeSky is designed to supplement, not replace, eConspicuity equipment like ADS-B or FLARM receivers. Its main purpose is to remind and support pilots in flying VFR and adhering to ‘See and Avoid,’ not to substitute for tactical deconfliction decisions.

It is essential to note that SafeSky is not a radar and, therefore, is not intended to replace any existing eConspicuity equipment, such as ADS-B or FLARM receivers, but rather to complement them.

SafeSky relies on the internet. While there may be occasional areas with no coverage, the application has an 80% success rate for data transmission up to 5,000 feet.

Besides allowing pilots to see the positions of fellow aviators in flight, ground followers can also track their flights.

SafeSky offers both a Free and a PREMIUM plan. The Free Plan includes all safety features, including traffic information. The PREMIUM Plan offers added comfort and compatibility, particularly with navigation software and connectivity to your devices.

If you have opted for SafeSky PREMIUM, you can also benefit from the GDL90 protocol (protocol allowing to view this traffic in your navigation application (SDVFR, Air Navigation Pro, SkyDemon, ForeFlight, EasyVFR, ...).
