SafeSky Pro setup

SafeSky Pro is designed for seamless, efficient, and secure usage within helicopter fleets. This page provides step-by-step instructions on the setup process, detailing the app’s various operational modes and configuration options to ensure consistent and safe usage across all devices.

How does your team fly with SafeSky?

SafeSky Pro is installed on each device used by your fleet, including all primary and spare / backup devices. This universal setup ensures that any device can be used interchangeably without losing access to critical SafeSky data.

Your Aircraft Fleet

The list of aircraft is configured once and then shared across all devices in the fleet. This centralised setup simplifies aircraft selection, enabling pilots to select from a unified list.

  • Automatic Aircraft Selection at Take-Off: By default, SafeSky Pro will automatically select the last aircraft used on that device at the start of a flight. This feature provides a streamlined experience, reducing the time required to set up for each mission.
  • Optional Aircraft Selection: If the pilot needs to choose a different aircraft, they can quickly select another from the centrally managed list, ensuring accurate data representation throughout the mission.

SafeSky App management

SafeSky Pro offers several modes to accommodate diverse operational needs while ensuring security and consistency. These modes are configured centrally and ensure that each user’s access aligns with your fleet's operational requirements.

1. One Single Account for your entire fleet

The Single Account mode allows SafeSky to operate under a single account for simplified management across devices.

  • Easy Access for Multiple Pilots: With a single account, all pilots have access to SafeSky without requiring individual login credentials, allowing rapid access and reducing administrative complexity.
  • Consistent Settings Management: The single account ensures that all users interact with the app through a consistent set of configurations, eliminating variations and simplifying troubleshooting.
  • Secure Access: While multiple users can access the account, settings are centrally managed to avoid accidental or unauthorised changes.

2. Read-Only Settings

With the Read-Only Settings, the majority of app settings are locked to prevent unauthorised adjustments.

  • Consistent Configuration Across Flights: With settings locked in read-only mode, SafeSky Pro provides a consistent configuration for each flight. This is essential for ensuring predictable app behaviour.
  • Temporary Adjustments: Some settings can be temporarily modified if needed, but these adjustments will not be saved after the session ends. This ensures that the original settings remain intact for future flights.

3. Admin Access with PIN Code

Admin Access provides administrators with the flexibility to make necessary adjustments to app settings.

  • Secure Access via PIN Code: Admin access is protected by a PIN code, allowing only authorised personnel to unlock and modify settings.
  • Persistent Configuration Changes: Changes made in Admin Access mode are saved and remain active until adjusted again, providing a secure way to configure settings without needing to unlock them for each session.
  • Flexible Control: Administrators can make adjustments as needed to align with operational demands, then re-lock the settings to prevent further changes by unauthorised users.

Setup Process - Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Create a Dedicated SafeSky Account

    • Before setting up devices, the organisation must create a dedicated SafeSky account using a unique username and password (not SSO with Google or Apple).
    • This account should ideally be linked to the organisation rather than to an individual user to ensure continuity and centralised management.
  2. Install SafeSky Pro on Each Device

    • From the Apple Sotre or the Google Play Store, install SafeSky Pro on every device used by the fleet, ensuring that both primary and spare devices have access to the app.
    • If your organisation is using a global manager to deploy apps, such as Airwatch or inTune, make sure that SafeSky is deployed as a managed app.
    • Make sure that each device has a working SIM card and that SafeSky has internet access
  3. Login on Each Device

    • Confirm that each installation is logged-in with the central SafeSky account to maintain uniformity across devices.
  4. Configure Your List of Aircraft

    • Define the aircraft list within the SafeSky Pro app’s "My Aircraft" settings. This list will be accessible across all devices, eliminating the need for local configuration. See our user manual: STEP 5 - Create your aircraft and Take Off!
    • Once the list is created, it will be available for selection on each device. When clicking "take-off", SafeSky will automatically select the last aircraft used, but pilots have the option to select another aircraft from the shared list.
  5. Set Read-Only Settings

    • Configure key settings in Read-Only mode to prevent modifications by users. Identify any settings that may need temporary adjustments during flights, knowing that they will reset at the end of each session.
    • This setup ensures a consistent experience for all users and preserves the original configuration for each mission.
  6. Configure Admin Access with PIN Code

    • SafeSky will provide you with a secure PIN code for Admin Access. This code will allow authorised personnel to unlock and modify settings as required.
    • After making necessary adjustments, the admin can re-lock the settings to restrict further changes.

Following these setup instructions ensures SafeSky Pro is configured for optimal, secure, and reliable performance for every mission.
